What Is RTA in Poker? A Dated Room-Policy Snapshot

Real-time assistance (RTA) is outside help that informs or influences a poker decision while a hand is being played. It can include a tool that reads the current game state and recommends an action, a solver result consulted during play, or live coaching. Rooms may also regulate in-play reference material, including static charts, without classifying every chart as RTA. Which conduct a room prohibits depends on that room's published policy and the context. A label such as “study tool” does not make in-play use acceptable, and a rule from one operator does not transfer to another.

This page compares three operators' primary sources, rechecked on 22 October 2026: PokerStars, GGPoker and CoinPoker. It is a dated editorial comparison, not a product clearance letter or a judgment about gambling legality. The current operator policy and a feature-specific written answer govern a real use case.

Source refresh (22 October 2026): GGPoker displays version 20260313. CoinPoker's English and Simplified Chinese policy are both readable. The English page displays 25 June 2026, the Chinese page 17 June 2026. Those publisher dates differ from our check date. The 2026 terms' HUD provisions were also checked on pages 4–5 and 21; their other-platform clause must be read alongside the policy FAQ, not as blanket approval.

Define the Context Before Judging a Tool

Ask what the tool does, when it is used, whether the poker client is open, what information it receives, and which exact operator and game are involved. A book read after a session differs from a current-hand recommendation. A static beginner chart differs from a dynamically selected solver output. A room's own integrated HUD differs from a third-party overlay. Those distinctions are not hypothetical legal loopholes; they are categories named in the operators' policies.

The poker terms glossary defines terms such as solver and GTO; a definition does not say whether a tool may be used at a particular table.

The GGPoker policy defines RTA as external assistance influencing real-time decisions and prohibits in-play chart reference. PokerStars separates basic static references from advanced tools and current-state advice. CoinPoker's dedicated tool policy distinguishes gameplay-connected HUD use from its client-open restrictions on RTA and training tools. These are different written tests, not one universal chart rule.

A policy check asks for the operator, exact tool feature, live versus off-table use, client state, game data and source date.
The same tool name is not enough to classify every use.

The Primary-Source Comparison, Checked 22 October 2026

The table summarizes the linked policy sections, not every term of an account agreement. GGPoker's displayed version is 20260313. CoinPoker's English page displays 25 June 2026 and its official Chinese page 17 June 2026; both were readable in this review. Different displayed dates alone do not establish a rule-change history. A permitted category is not approval of a particular unnamed product.

Operator and sourceLive current-hand advice / solverBasic static chart during playThird-party HUD during playOff-table study / scope caveat
PokerStars policyCurrent-state action advice is prohibited; advanced GTO and equity tools are prohibited while its software is open. Its policy generally permits static, basic starting-hand reference for unopened pots; advanced references are a different category.Limited numerical statistics from the player's own play are described as generally acceptable, with feature restrictions; no named HUD is approved by this table. Some advanced study tools may be used only when the PokerStars software is not running; read the exact conditions.
GGPoker security policyIt prohibits external real-time decision assistance and tools that aid decisions during gameplay. It expressly prohibits referring to charts of any kind during play. Its auxiliary-tools section names HUDs among prohibited aids connected to gameplay. The policy distinguishes tools not supporting or interacting with GGPoker during gameplay; do not turn that sentence into blanket product approval.
CoinPoker English policyIts RTA and training-tool sections restrict decision aids and listed solvers while the client is open.Decision-assisting charts are prohibited while the client is open.HUDs connected to CoinPoker gameplay are prohibited; its own integrated features are a separate category. The HUD section distinguishes personal study and other-platform use, while the second-monitor FAQ gives a broad client-open restriction. Obtain written clarification for a specific simultaneous-use setup; this table does not approve it.

This is a baseline for future revisions, not a series showing policy changes. Each row preserves a feature, use context and primary source. If a source becomes inaccessible or changes, its summary must be checked again rather than silently carried forward.

An official room-policy clause is recorded with operator, source URL, exact section, feature, context and date before becoming a narrow editorial table cell.

PokerStars: Basic Reference Is Not a Solver Exemption

The PokerStars Third Party Tools and Services Policy organizes tools into three groups: generally permitted, prohibited at all times, and permitted only when its software is not running. Its generally acceptable examples include simple static starting-hand charts for unopened pots and limited in-game numerical stats based on a player's own accumulated play. The HUD/stat category has explicit qualitative and feature restrictions; a generic claim that “PokerStars allows HUDs” omits the very limits that matter.

The same policy forbids a tool that reads the current game state and gives an action in real time. It also restricts advanced range-versus-range, GTO, ICM and similar materials while any PokerStars client is open, including use on another device. Our GTO explainer covers the strategy concept, not permission to consult a GTO tool during play. A static chart with broader recommendations can move into the restricted category. The policy says players are responsible for compliance and warns that it may change without individual notice. A product name, screenshot or marketing claim cannot settle how its current version and configuration are classified; ask PokerStars about a specific case when uncertain.

GGPoker: No in-Play Chart Carve-Out

GGPoker's Security Ecology Policy says table decisions should be free of external assistance and specifically prohibits referring to charts of any kind during play. Its auxiliary-tool section includes solvers, charts and HUDs among decision-related tools it prohibits in connection with gameplay. That is materially different from PokerStars' narrow basic-chart category. Do not import PokerStars' exception into GGPoker.

For an RTA breach, clause 2.4 lists a permanent ban and confiscation of funds as potential actions. That is not a claim that every suspected incident receives both. We do not describe GGPoker's detection methods beyond what it publishes, and we do not suggest ways to avoid enforcement. For a player, the practical action is to read the current policy and seek operator clarification before using any external in-play reference.

CoinPoker: Distinguish Third-Party HUDs From Integrated Features

CoinPoker's English tool policy prohibits third-party HUDs, tracking overlays and opponent analysis in connection with CoinPoker gameplay, while distinguishing integrated operator features. Its RTA and Training Tools During Play sections restrict decision aids and listed study tools while the client is open. The readable official Simplified Chinese policy provides the corresponding feature categories.

The 2026 CoinPoker terms, page 5, explicitly distinguish HUD software open solely for another platform from HUD use connected to CoinPoker gameplay. The policy's second-monitor FAQ also says prohibited tools must not run while its client is open. We do not resolve the scope of a particular simultaneous-use setup on the operator's behalf: ask about the exact tool and feature in writing. The terms' pages 4 and 21 separately state the gameplay-connected HUD restriction.

Both language versions were rechecked on 22 October 2026. When a policy is changed or a feature's classification remains unclear, obtain the operator's current written answer rather than assuming that an older document still applies.

A source record separates CoinPoker's English and Chinese publisher dates from the 22 October 2026 editorial check date; it does not establish a policy-change history.

Off-Table Study Is a Separate Question

Analyzing a completed hand, reading strategy after a session and consulting a solver during an active game are not the same conduct. But “I was only studying” does not settle the operator's client-open rule. PokerStars says some advanced tools are prohibited whenever its software runs, even if no table is open or another device is used. CoinPoker's policy likewise restricts listed solvers/training tools while its client is open. GGPoker's wording has its own gameplay-interaction test. Do not infer a shared safe interval across all three.

The hand-review guide describes how to reconstruct a completed decision. That educational method does not override any operator's rules about software, hand histories or client-open use.

Nor is off-table study the same as permission to collect or share other players' hands. PokerStars restricts datamining and mass sharing; other rooms have their own rules. The present table focuses on decision assistance, charts, solvers and HUDs and does not certify hand-history collection, data export, coaching, multi-accounting or any specific Poker-Eye feature. A feature-level review needs a separate room-specific check.

How to Verify a Current Rule Before Using a Tool

  1. Open the operator's official third-party-tools, security or integrity policy—not an affiliate's summary—and record the URL and check date.
  2. Identify the feature and exact workflow: static page, dynamic output, current game-state input, HUD overlay, post-session analysis or live coaching.
  3. Read both the general rule and exceptions. A sentence permitting basic references may exclude advanced charts; a built-in HUD exception may not cover third-party software.
  4. Check whether the restriction applies during a hand, while the client is open, on any device, or in connection with gameplay. These are different conditions.
  5. If the source is unavailable or ambiguous, label the use not confirmed and ask the operator for written clarification. Save the answer with its date, scope and version.
  6. Recheck before each publication update and before making a product-compatibility claim. The snapshot on this page cannot verify tomorrow's policy.

This is a reader-safety workflow, not legal advice. The operator may apply account terms, local law and game-specific rules beyond the excerpts summarized here. We deliberately omit tips on concealing tools, bypassing detection or exploiting ambiguous wording.

Method, Baseline and Correction Route

The comparison is tied to first-party operator, feature, use context and policy section. The original baseline was 2 October 2026; this source review is dated 22 October 2026. The previously unavailable Chinese page is now readable. The 2026 terms' HUD provisions were verified directly on pages 4–5 and 21, rather than inferred from a search extract or the filename. These observations do not establish when an operator changed a rule.

For a correction, provide the operator URL, the exact clause, the date observed and the specific matrix cell you think is wrong. Poker-Eye is a poker-related product site; our interest in the topic makes source transparency especially important. We do not claim that any Poker-Eye feature is approved by PokerStars, GGPoker, CoinPoker or another room.

Quick Answers

Is every poker chart RTA? There is no useful cross-room yes/no. PokerStars describes a narrow basic static-reference category; GGPoker prohibits chart reference of any kind during play; CoinPoker restricts decision-assisting charts while its client is open. Read the exact operator's current policy.

Can I use a solver after a session? That is a separate context from live assistance, but check whether the operator forbids it while its client remains open or imposes other conditions. Do not infer approval for a named solver from this article.

Are third-party HUDs allowed? The cited operators take different approaches. PokerStars permits limited in-game numerical statistics under conditions; GGPoker lists HUDs among prohibited gameplay aids; CoinPoker prohibits external HUD use with its gameplay but distinguishes integrated authorized features. None of these rows approves an unnamed tool.

What if the policy page is blocked or unclear? Record not confirmed, use a directly readable current official source if one exists, and ask the operator. Do not treat an inaccessible page as permission.

Sources and Scope

  • PokerStars: Prohibited Programs, Tools and Services — The three tool categories separate basic references and limited own-play stats from current-state advice and client-open restrictions.
  • GGPoker: Security & Ecology Policy — Version 20260313, sections 2, 3 and 7 and the auxiliary-tool section, covers RTA, bots, hand-history data and auxiliary tools. Potential sanctions are not a guaranteed outcome in every case.
  • CoinPoker: Third-Party Tools & Software Policies — The HUD, RTA, Training Tools and FAQ sections provide the feature-specific gameplay and client-open boundaries. The displayed update date is 25 June 2026; checked 22 October 2026.
  • CoinPoker: 第三方工具与软件政策 — The readable official Simplified Chinese page supplies the localized HUD/RTA wording. It displays 17 June 2026; a different displayed date alone is not proof of a policy change.
  • CoinPoker: Terms and Conditions (2026), pp. 4–5, 21 — Pages 4–5 define gameplay-connected HUD restrictions and the other-platform HUD clause; page 21 addresses live RTA/solvers and HUD use. These are distinct from the policy FAQ's client-open wording. Directly rechecked 22 October 2026.

Official source sections were rechecked on 22 October 2026. The comparison is not a product clearance letter; an unconfirmed feature or workflow still needs the operator's written answer.
